Wine Racks for Sale
Here are a few different wine racks for sale that caught our attention as being particularly elegant, well-designed, or unusual. We've also selected them based on how well they fulfill basic "rules" of wine storage.
While you are shopping for a wine rack, you will probably either have decided where you want to keep the wine, or it will be a big part of the decision which wine rack you buy. Whichever wine rack you buy, be sure that it is going somewhere that does not get direct sunlight at any time of day (late afternoon sun on your wine is not at all good) and that it is not near a heat source like an oven, a heat vent, or even your refrigerator (which does give off quite a bit of heat). It is a fine thing to have a nice selection of wines on hand, but not so nice at all if you open one to discover its gone sour, or changed even slightly as a result of being kept in the wrong place.
Wooden Wine Racks
If you want the simple, unfinished wooden wine racks, its not hard to find them. Target has a nice simple one with the peg grid look that holds 12 bottles and costs $20. It is 18 inches long and 10 inches high. If you had a tight spot in the kitchen, you could, of course, flip it on its side and hold 10 bottles this way.
Target also has some geometry inspired wooden wine racks that are nice. The wood for them is solid planks - not the peg style, so you could also use them to sort mail and magazines and whatever else you wanted. They cost $20 for the 8 bottle rack and $60 for the 13 bottle "Large Wine Rack - Espresso". You can get the larger wine rack shipped free - Target is doing a promotion for free shipping if you spend over $50 on "furniture".
If you want a wine rack that has a drawer, and a surface like an end table, then what you want is a "wine butler" rather than a wine rack. Target has those, too.
Check out Amazon for more wooden wine racks, or Brookstone if you want a whole wall's worth of wine. For me, these Brookstone looks good enough for a wine cellar, but its not attractive enough for a livingroom (a bit too "country kitchen", but if you've got an industrial look going, you could get away with it).
Small Wine Racks
As small as they get, the "Houdini Wine Rack" from the Moma store is only $16, holds 4 bottles (you can buy several racks and hold up to 48 bottles) and folds down completely flat. A traveller's wine rack!
Metal Wine Racks
These qualify as both small and metal, but if you love wine and cool decor, go check out Uncommon Goods. They have a whole wine section of really clever unusual wine toys, racks, glasses and accesories.
Wall Mounted Wine Racks
The "Flow Wine Holder" from Uncommon Goods is particularly interesting, and affordable at $50. It is stainless stell and holds 8 bottles.
Hanging Wine Racks
These tend to be metal curliques that hold 3-4 bottles of wine, or big hanging grids (like the ones for your pots). Amazon has the same products as ewineracks.com and other wine rack stores, but Amazon has its free 2nd day priine shipping deal (if you haven't signed up, get to it), and much better customer service. Amazon has an incredible 4194 products under the term "wine rack".
